PLAY-BY: >>appearance
It is possible that Delphia could be pretty; if one were to concentrate very, very hard, that is. She has all the right features--pleasantly sized nose, full lips, clear eyes and long lashes--but the way she positions them on a general basis just makes her beauty a bit..difficult. As a general rule, Delphia is constantly sporting a scowl. No matter the occasion, she is never quite as pretty as she could be since she never quite looks happy to be there. Unless it is a science fair, in which case, there is no one that would matter around to see that she has slight sex appeal.
Added to that, she doesn't make any effort to dress to flatter herself. For the most part, she likes jeans and plain tee shirts, and if she cannot wear her combat boots [she likes sounding impressive when she storms about], she wears sneakers. Her hair is cropped to just below her ears, shorter in the back than in the front. It would be even all around, but her mother did manage to have a say when she got the cut and so it is a bit trendier than one might expect. It's a honey blonde sort of color, which is nice, but since she does not bother to do much other than brush it, tends to look rather plain.
When Delphia walks, she doesn't just walk. She stalks. She isn't a particularly inconspicuous mover in any sense and tends to bluster about as she sees fit. She's not too terribly large, either--only about 5'5 and rather skinny-- so she doesn't exactly get noticed by just her size. She needs that extra boost of spunk to make sure that people know she's there. Although she'd never admit to walking like that for attention; indeed, if you notice it, she's likely to snarl [another common expression].personality
Delphia is a rich kid, through and through. While she isn't one to flaunt her money, she isn't one to act all sheepish that she's got it either. Her wealthy background provides funding for all the things she loves--cars, computers, video games, books--and so she likes to at least give that money a name. As such, she's a little bit frivolous, splurging on things that she doesn't really need and won't ever really use, such as a ferrari or a kitchenaid mixer. Added to that, she's very protective of her possessions and doesn't let anyone that she doesn't deem worth [and she hardly ever deems people worthy] touch things they could potentially break.
Growing up with a brother with anger problems, Delphia developed a few of her own. If something makes her uncomfortable or rubs her the wrong way, she lashes out...loudly. And this happens much more frequently than not, due to extreme social awkwardness [therefore, EVERYTHING makes her uncomfortable]. With money and power comes ego and, because of that and her social ineptitude, Delphia is horrible at making friends. Of course, it doesn't help that she always ends up yelling at them, but don't try telling HER that.
Despite the fact that she would seem to be a lonely, egotistic, angry, emo child, she's really not. Well, yes, she is [other than emo], but she doesn't mind. At all. She's extremely self-sufficient and doesn't trust people other than herself and, as long as she has her books to keep her company, she's quite alright with letting that trait manifest itself and run her life.
Delphia is definitely one of those types that thinks relationships are stupid, but she has a pretty interesting take. While most people who have problems with relationships find the idea of committing to one person completely ludicrous, Delphia does not. If she ever found anyone on her level, she would have no problem devoting herself [ish] to them. It's the fact that she doesn't believe anyone to be on her level that annoys HER about romance. If she can't find the perfect guy or a friend that can keep up, why should she even try?
For a teenager, Delphia is sensationally hormonal. Her emotional ups and downs are much more severe than most people's and often, she'll find herself crying and screaming over the most trivial things. Or, perhaps, for no reason at all. Of course, this is not entirely the fault of puberty. Delphia suffers from insomnia and, so, the lack of sleep tends to make her cranky occasionally, though she'll never admit it. Though it's possible that, since she's used to it, she just doesn't realize it.family & history

HISTORY:
Delphia was the second of three children born into the Dalton household. Like the other two, she was always pampered and praised and, most of all, given to the nannies to be raised by. So that is how Delphia's life began, in the hands of an impatient old lady and at the mercy of her tyrannic older brother, Darien. Of course, as soon as she was about three, Delphia took on tyrannic tendencies of her own, and was soon able to hit back. They became quite the duo; never getting along, never staying quiet for more than about .5 seconds. They weren't even particularly sweet children. Which is probably why, eventually, Mrs. Dalton stopped hiring new nannies as old ones quit and tried to raise the children herself.
However, Mrs. Dalton [who had been raised by nannies herself] had no idea how to raise children and so raised them with her purse. Everything they wanted, they got, unless it was completely unreasonable. All they really had to do was scream louder than their father could yell, which was a tactic they learned young. When the children became too much for Mrs. Dalton to handle without copious amounts of alcohol and medication, she sent them off to a prestigious boarding school in Ireland, where they spent the majority of their childhood. When Darien turned 14 and was accepted at Somnium, Delphia was devastated. Her brother, the boy she spent her life detesting and loving simultaneously, the one facet of her life that had always been constant, was leaving her for bigger and better things.
Soon enough, however, it was time for her to start highschool and so she got her own acceptance letter. Excited, she and Darien went out and bought all of the necessary equipment and furnishings, including a dress for formal occasions [though she had never been fond of dressing up and was not particularly adept at it], and, when it came time, left together. Of course, that was pretty much the end of their short brother-sister-once-in-a-lifetime-bonding-experience; Darien found his friends, Delphia found what would become Her Corner, and they went back to being completely apathetic toward each other, in that loving way that only siblings can manage.
As her first year went on, Delphia's already inflated ego grew. She was rapidly becoming the the top in her class--not that that position had ever been in jeopardy. Her brother, of course, was not pleased that his sister could outshine him in anything he chose to do, especially since she got some of that knowledge from his textbooks, which she stole to read when she got bored. Which is how, as the years progressed, Delphia managed to always be a year ahead. However, knowing how her brother reacted, she always tried to hide it. Being lynched was not high on her list of goals and priorities.
There was a problem, however, with the general greatness of Delphia's grades. Her parents, while they'd never attended church in their entire married life that wasn't brought on by a funeral or wedding, professed to be extremely religious. And while they never made certain to observe holidays more than commercially or to pray before meals or even to abstain from sin, they were adamant on "keeping the values." Which meant that Delphia's obsession with and knack for science was always a thorn in their side. While they couldn't exactly scold her for it, they could make it absolutely clear that they did not approve and they could significantly cut her allowance funds. Which, while Delphia's allowance is still excellent to almost anyone watching, the cut definitely put a damper on her spending habits.dream form
It may seem rather common, but Delphia's dream form is, to put it basically, a mad scientist. No, she's not Dr. Frankenstein or one of those creepos in a labcoat with frizzy hair--she simply finds her scientific endeavours to be a bit more...crazy. In her dream form, she finds it much easier to let go of the bonds of real life that keep her from her more violent experiments and her slight pyromaniac tendencies are a little bit more pronounced. Added to that, she finds the research she manages to get whilst she sleeps most invigorating.
She looks the same, in dream form, as she does in real life, although she looks a bit more sleep deprived. And there is a slightly manic light in her eyes that comes from the letting go of of bonds and whatnot.
