BASKETBALL There's a hoop. There are basketballs. Toss the basketball into the hoop. Win a stuffed animal. Easy as pie.
How do you know if you made it in? Include either heads or tails at the BOTTOM of your post so that we can easily locate it and either a staff member or a booth worker [depending on who is online at the time] will let you know if you made it in, using www.random.org's coin flipper.

Since Jack was so cool, it totally made sense that he would sign up for a carnival. Because not only was Jack cool, he also liked to consider himself a fairly nice guy, and nice guys spread their own cool around at any and all given opportunities. And the opportunity to work a carnival was a perfect one.
It was also perfect that he'd gotten to work the basketball booth, since basketball was allllmost as cool as Jack was [especially since Jack was also very tall]. It would be the perfect place for him to show off his skills [or just to show off in general, really; Jack wasn't picky] and maybe meet a few girls that he had somehow missed by simply attending Somnium Academy.
Girls like Cybele Renard, who was his partner, according to the partner sheet he'd been presented with. Somehow, he'd managed to have no idea who she was. But he was fully and compeltely ready to find out, which was why he'd arrived at his booth five minutes earlier than necessary. This was quite unlike Jack, but he didn't care. He wasn't about to let one second be wasted today.
Because he was Jack Callahan. And Jack Callahan wasted nothing. >:[!

Cade West strolled around the carnival, looking around for something to do. Carnivals weren't usually his thing, he liked to ride the demon roller coasters from dusk till dawn, something like that wouldn't happen at a school carnival. Teachers were always out to make sure nobody would get sick/injured along the way. Nothing seemed to catch his eye, until he heard the familiar swish of a basketball making its way through the net. Perfect!
Turning around, he saw it; the bright white backboard with its flimsy net, waiting with a row of neon orange basketballs to try your luck and sink in. Thinking back to child hood, Cade remembered middle school basketball and him clicked like peanut butter and jelly. He made his way over, not looking for some teddy bear for a prize, but just for the feel of the ball making that ever so glorious swish as it made it through the net.
"Hey, mind if I give it a try?" He grabbed the basketball and prepared to shoot it in. But he took a minute to move his hands around the ball, noting how new and energized these balls were. His left arm formed an "L" shape, his right hand held the bottom of the ball, ready to shoot. Here goes nothing... He shot his left arm forward, following through with his wrist curved over, hoping this would be his golden shot.
OOC: Umm...tails!

Jack wasn't gonna lie--he was a little sad that the first person to approach the booth was not his bound-to-be-lovely partner, Cybele Renard, but a boy. But nonetheless, Jack had a job to do and Jack was going to do the best fucking job at this basketball stand. Such a good job, in fact, that people would remember it in years to come and say "Man, that Jack Callahan. I wish I could work the basketball booth like he did."
Yep. They would say that.
"STEP RIGHT UP," he all but yelled at the boy approaching, a giant grin on his face. "AND PLAY THE BASKETBALL GAME!" Not that this second shout was exactly necessary, per se, but it gave the impression of Jack knowing EXACTLY what he was doing. Which he did. At all times. Obviously.
After stepping back and out of the way, the boy took his shot and Jack gave a loud whistle [for support, obv]. "WOOO, GOOD SHOT," he yelled, watching it arc.
And random.org landed on tails, sooo: The ball, after its arc, soared gracefully into the hoop. Jack whooped again and whipped a tiny stuffed frog off the wall.
"HERE YOU GOOO! THANKS FOR PLAYING HAVE A GREAT DAAAY! UNLESS YOU WANT TO PLAY AGAIN." He was obviously not overwhelming in the slightest.

Cybele ran thought the carnival, ducking between booths and narrowly avoiding bowling over a group of students. She was late for her shift, but at least she had a good reason. Well, not exactly. She had fallen asleep in the gardens again and missed her cell phone alarm. Luckily, she had packed her clothes in a bag just in case; it took her all of fifteen minutes to wake up, realize she was late, find some place to change, and dash to the carnival. An extremely enthusiastic voice caught her attention and Cy veered in a different direction. She rounded a corner and almost ran into an older boy who had just finished shooting. Cy flashed the boy an apologetic smile and stepped behind the booth, where she came face to muscular chest with another boy holding a stuffed frog. So this was Jack Callahan, huh? Cybele gave him a broad smile, quickly signed Sorry, and hunched over, catching her breath. She dropped her bag, pulling a pad of paper and pen out. She scribbled, “Sorry I was late Overslept” skipped a line then continued, “Cybele, or Cy. Nice to meet you!” Face flushed and still slightly out of breath, Cy straightened and held the notebook out so Jack could read it. Without waiting for a reply, Cybele tucked the pen behind her ear. She pulled a folded sign out of her bag. Placing the notebook down on the booth, Cy unfolded the sign and held it up. It read: “Basketball! Try your luck!” in large, multicolored block letters. “I hope they told him about me…” Cy thought to herself, flashing Jack another broad smile and waving the sign around.

Cade flashed a cheesy grin, taking the stuffed frog and feeling a small sense of pride. Sure, it wasn't much of an accomplishment; he won a frog worth a buck at the dollar store by just sinking a shot. But, somehow it seemed to make this carnival all the more worthwhile. "Thanks. Catch you later!" He wasn't sure what else to say, so he just turned around and walked away, letting the frog hang limply in his left hand.
He sat by on a nearby bench, taking a look at his "prize." It wasn't anything completely special, its skin was a neon green, while its feet and legs were a shade of pale yellow. Eh, its not that bad. His eyes shifted upward, looking to see if there was anyone who wanted this stuffed animal. Maybe her...nope. Her, ah, no. Each girl that passed he hoped would take notice of him, bug he just shrugged it off and started of for the drink stand.

Wandering around the carnival searching for something to do, Kalen came to a stop right in front of the basketball booth. Wanting to see what she could win she looked at the boy, wait make that a very hot boy behind the booth and a shy but friendly looking girl standing next to him.
She waved, smiling at the both of them “Mind if I try?” she asked kindly, her smile never faltering. Kae knew that she was only okay at basketball, but what would it hurt to try her luck. ‘Uhh you could miss and make yourself look like a fool in front of these people.’ The little voice in the back of her mind protested, it sounded just like her father, which only made Kalen want to take a shot at the hoop even more.
Pulling her hair out of her face she looked towards the hoop, it wasn’t that far she could probably make it at least she hoped she could make it. Letting out a breath she was ready to try this and if she didn’t get it oh well she could always come back and try later, it was no big deal.

While Jack often considered himself fairly lucky in the ways of women, he really had to give himself kudos this time. Not that he had had any say in deciding who he was paired with, but really, the planning committee must have realized how much he deserved this. Because this girl, Cybele Renard, was sexy. Even looking harried and windswept, she had that mysterious thing going for her. And Jack approved.
"Well hellooo, gorgeous," he said with a wink. It didn't occur to him that her hand motion might have been sign language and he felt a small twinge of distress when she did not respond to his initial greeting. He felt a little bit better when she started writing, but he was a little bit alarmed. Pleasantly alarmed, however. He had never rendered a girl speechless before with merely a greeting.
God, he was so good.
"Nice to meet you, too, gorgeous." He grinned, offering his hand. "I'm Jack, but I think you already knew that." He quickly had to rescind his hand, however, as another attractive woman came over to the stand.
"Hey there, little lady," he said, tipping an imaginary hat. "You can try all day." He grinned and set a basketball in front of her, stepping out of the way of her throw.
Annnddd random.org says that she makes it. :]

Gorgeous? Cybele didn’t think she had ever been called gorgeous by anyone before. It was flattering and funny at the same time. She beamed at Jack and was about to shake his hand when a girl stepped up to the booth. Cy took a slight step to the side, happy to let Jack deal with the face to face portion of their job.
She tilted her head slightly, examining Jack. He stood at least a foot taller than her, which Cybele found particularly funny. He was also quite good looking, in that “Yeah, I work out, what about it?” way. This thought was quickly pushed aside by the realization that Jack may be able to help her get into parts of the gardens and courtyards that were locked off. Or maybe he could even help her get onto the roof of the school!
The swish of a basketball going through the hoop brought Cybele back to the present. She bounced happily, picking a cute stuffed turtle off the prize wall. Kalen struck Cy as someone who would appreciate the turtle. Or at least she would find it a nice home if she didn’t. Cybele stepped up to the booth couner, offering the turtle.
Cybele had written a couple notes the night before to save time while interacting with the students. She flipped her notebook open and pushed it forward a little so Kalen could read. Congratulations! Thanks for playing! Would you like to play again?” She flashed Jack a smile, hoping to convey a teasing “See? I can be just as loud and attention grabbing as you.”

Meredith was more than happy to turn the corner and find that Jack had not yet left the stand. She was also more than happy to take a minute to catch her breath, since she had run through all the stupid loops to find the retarded basketball stand, which was not where she had hoped it would be set up, but somewhere else, leaving her arriving only just on time when she had left her shift ten minutes early to be sure to see him. She was wearing a comfortable pair of suede boots, not heeled at all, making her seem a bit shorter than usual. Her pants were tucked in at the bottom, but were made of a shimmering silk, being that she was going to be out all day, she had chosen to wear something lighter so she didn't overheat.. and her corset actually had two lime green oriental panels on either side, extending just around to her front to be visible underneath the short, leather jacket she had chosen for the evening.
Her lips were a pale pink, though her eyes were just as dark as ever, and her hair was up in a manageable ponytail. She took a deep breath and finally started toward the booth, noticing the lucky partner with a sign out and quirking an eyebrow. Her first assumption on that was that the girl was just being cute albeit lazy, and she felt a bit of sickness at the thought of competing. She had, honestly, hoped that Cybele had been a boy's name when she had seen the roster, but apparently.. not.
She didn't dare let the jealousy reach above her abdomen, though, and thoroughly slammed it down with a drink of soda and a dash of willpower before she finally arrived at the front of the booth. She waited to be noticed patiently, standing just to the corner of Jack's vision, and as soon as she was acknowledged by either of the patrons, smiled broadly, "It's the end of your shift, but don't suppose you have time to host one more shot...?" To be honest, she wasn't any good at basketball, which meant she'd probably make a fool of herself, but she didn't mind doing so around Jack.
