GENDER: Male
PLAY-BY: Chace Crawfordappearance
Dade has bright blue eyes and dark brown hair (he has, on occasion, dyed it blond) He has no real defining marks, no visible birth marks. What he does have is a rather unpleasantly earned scar in the distinct shape of a diamond on his right palm-interesting story indeed involving his father, a diamond shaped necklace, and a lot of pent up anger. And the other significant mark upon his body is a rather jagged scar above his eye- faded, but if you get close enough to him, you'll see it, as it's just below his left eyebrow.personalityLove is just a hoax, so forget anything that you have heard.Fears. Well, to begin with, let's quote a little; Dade is a 'Resistive Trypanophobia'. Doctors say it "occurs when the underlying fear involves not simply needles or injections but also being controlled or restrained. It typically stems from repressive upbringing or poor handling of prior needle procedures i.e with forced physical or emotional restraint." "Symptoms of this form of trypanophobia include combativeness, high heart rate coupled with extremely high blood pressure, violent resistance, avoidance and flight."
So, no needles, 'tay?
Another fear is of garlic. He's actually deathly allergic. Touching it could result in very unpleasant things for him. Ooh yeah, and probably the biggest fear of all; of love. His father left his mother, and it definitely had an impact. It's that moment in life when you actually feel alive.Goals. To pass his classes, to make something of himself, to understand love, and to be a counselor or psychologist pretty much sums it up. But any little goals in between his ultimate goals are cool with him. There were three, count 'em, three, children playing on the beach.Socially, Dade's not too bad off. He's not antisocial. Dade will get along with you, definitely. He has no qualms about that. But he's rather shy in nature, so you'll likely have to address him first. Other then that he's very calm and friendly. They were eager to learn, to be taught, and to teach.Dade is very intelligent. Not random facts smart, he doesn't bother with that, but in general he is quick to grasp concepts and English, along with history, are his best subjects. Memorization? Easy. Mathematics is also a fairly good class for him, but he tends to require repetitive instruction. If you tell him in more than one way, he'll understand the fundamentals of the issue and work it out himself. Otherwise even a simple concept, like finding the slant height of a triangle, can stump him. Now, if someone would have said, "it's a Pythagorean theorem problem," it would have clicked. It's just how his mind works.Heaven's not a place that you go when you die.Conviction? Even if he's not the most committed guy in relationships, and even though he won't jump at the chance to be your boyfriend, it doesn't mean he doesn't believe in anything. Actually, he believes in quite a few things. The conviction that drives him most is; 'everything happens for a reason'. He truly and completely believes that. Just. . .don't ask him to rationalize or place his father's departure in the 'everything' category. For him, there are exceptions; that being the only one, but still. And lastly there's Dade. His hair dances in the wind.Dade is a very calm kid. He's the kind of kid that, it would seem, could never get riled. He seems to see things from an entirely different light than normal. Things that seem so dramatic are analyzed by him, and assessed individually. It seems there's nothing he can't work through, that he can't understand if he wants to. Now, this is all a mask of sorts because there /is/ something he can't work through. Love. There were three, count 'em, three, children missing from the beach.Maturity. Try growing up with siblings whom are younger than you, and grandparents who are only fifty, then a mother who's in her early thirty's, and say you don't mature a bit. Not to mention the experience of his father leaving. In short Dade is almost superior in the sense that he acts far more mature, far more serious than most people. He can't understand how everyone goes on breathing when true love ends.Dade is terrified of love. He likes people, he just gets nervous when it gets serious. How could he possibly get serious with anyone when true love doesn't last? He doesn't understand why his father left his mother. He doesn't understand why the divorce rate is so high. The only thing he does understand is that the previous generations seemed to have a better idea of who they should marry- or less opportunities to find someone better-.Live for the moment, and take this advice, live by every word!Dade doesn't say, "If you ever need advice, talk to me", but it seems that a lot of people turn to him in time. Not everyone, oh no. But enough that he stays on his toes with fixing this problem and that. He does enjoy it a lot, and when he grows older he wants to be able to do it for real- either as a psychologist or a counselor.family & history
FATHER: David James Evans, thirty-nine, whereabouts; unknown.
MOTHER: Cecilia Linda Rothwell Evans, living in California with her parents.
SIBLINGS: N/A (I don't wanna put them up. If they come into the story at all, ie a letter, a picture, or even a story I'll put them here, but otherwise I haven't decided.)
OTHER FAMILY: N/A (same concept as the siblings)
HISTORY:
Dade was taught to be courteous from a very young age. Yes ma'am, no sir, that was just how you spoke. Your elders were some undeniably influential and powerful beings to whom your disrespect was highest treason. So, Dade did what was expected of him. He lived on a farm so laborious tasks were daily routine even at a young age. But even so, Dade would often wake up on any given morning and realize; he'd created this. He was making something. He was bringing something to life. And, somewhere someone was enjoying what he'd created. Someone was thriving because he took the time to plant the corn, and care for the corn. That was truly satisfying.
Not to mention the bonds he formed with his animals. Roosters, who strutted about the yard as if they owned it. Horses, leisurely chowing on grass or showing how wild and proud they were, if they were young, in the coral. Life was great! Albeit a bit tedious. Still, the repetitiveness was okay with Dade. Everything was great. So why did his father have to leave them? For no apparent reason that the young boy could see, his father /did/ leave. The farm, their lives, everything. Dade had never in his life thus far seen his father again, nor had he heard from him. Not even a postcard. As a result the family tried their best to grief and still keep up on their farm. Their mother was no help.
Before too long they found her packing up all her stuff. Was she leaving, too? Caught in the act, she ordered them to pack up between her sobs. And that was how they came to leave the glorious country land that was their home, to move instead to California. A beachfront house with their grandparents was nice enough. More than most kids could ever dream of. So why did Dade have such a hard time? His other brothers and sisters adapted nicely. They got the latest toys, following the latest craze, and really falling under a haze in Dade's eyes. The only sane ones seemed to be his mother who drank to deal with life, and himself.
Dade's grandparents were strange people. They moved in with them when they were in their fifty's. The grandparents were so used to the crazy teens that they acted more like irresponsible teenagers spending a day at the beach than Dade ever would. Not that they were the most responsible. His grandmother had gotten pregnant at fourteen, and had her daughter- Dade's mother- at fifteen. Dade's mother had believed it was the Cali life. Yet she, even in the country hundreds of miles away under the care of her aunt, got pregnant at fifteen. So as Dade reached the critical age of fourteen, his grandparents were still young and so was his mother.dream form
In the dream world, they call him 'Touchstone' because he is no fool in the traditional sense. As William Shakespeare would have it, where his name is taken from, Touchstone is a very witty and intellectual being whom amuses audiences with his humor, with his words, opposed to mockery of himself- well, in most instances.Welcome to the valley of the beast where they sing in harmony, but never speak no peace. To explain, it seems that Dade was given the form of 'jester' because he desperately wants to be open. And how better to be open than to be a fool of the court? His lack of commitment is as his dream form's fickle nature. His cunning understanding of others seemed to carry over from the waking world, too, for observation is key in any situation. And his lack of trust creates, perhaps the most telling thing of all; it creates an illusion. Dade, in the waking world, feels as though he's just an illusion. What he does, what he says, it's all an act. So in the way that the jester is suspicious and armed, Dade is very suspicious and private to protect himself.Once your caught I cant save ya, they'll manipulate your mind so you enjoy dangerIn his dream form, he's not exactly the best ally. He'd rather laugh at you than protect you. In the dream world, he truly acts as though he is solely a dream being - adapted to the world, and very friendly albeit a little less than loyal. This is partially due to his fear of love, and partially due to a fear of being left. It only takes someone- either him or the other person- waking up for him to lose them. You was fooling me once before, but I tell you there's no fooling me twice no more.Ah, so you say. They call him the fool, yet you're the ones that let down your guard as you burst into laughter. 'Touchstone' is cunning. Watch him carefully. A spastic, poetic, carefree jester can surprise you. Well, when he's not quoting random lines or making jokes.'Cuz he got knives and clips and a dagger that's shaped into a crucifix.Ah, well, that's partially true. Touchstone's got a dagger that's shaped into a crucifix that he keeps concealed, save for times when he's threatened or a fight seems inevitable. The knives and clips, well, not so much. It'd be too much to carry, but if he /wanted/ knives and clips he most certainly could attain them through many means.
