Small, though by no means tiny, Aya is one of those girls that is somehow stuck between being slim, and athletic. By no means is this state of frame by choice, the girl could eat a whole cow in one sitting, it is simply the body she inherited from her parents. No taller than 5’ flat she enjoys being small, claiming that it allows her to slip out of trouble when a bigger person would be caught. In reality she knows she has no chance of greater height as she is already nearly the size of both her parents.
The length of her blond hair really depends on the time of year, one is reaches past her shoulder blades she chops it off to a manageable chin length to begin the process again. Her large, shockingly bright blue eyes are a mystery; so violently bright compared to the stormy gray of her fathers and deep forest green of her mothers that she used to fantasize that she had been born of the travertine, a crystalline creek in human form.
Clothing is a matter hardly thought of by Aya, simply pieces of cloth society demands she adorn each day. She’ll wear nearly anything, wether or not is compliments her, from sun dresses to t-shirts and jeans to formal gowns two sizes too large she found as a discount store what ever is in easiest reach is what she wears for the day.personality
Wild and rambunctious, there is no slowing Aya down. Her mind is constantly bouncing from one adventure to the next, excitedly transforming even the dreariest of days into more than a morsel of fun. Daydreaming is by far her greatest past-time, followed only by trying her best to fulfill the fantasies she dreams up. This constant mental activity is consistently on display through bouncing legs, tapping fingers and prancing steps.
There is no greater disgrace to this young adventurer than to show fear; it is much better to bite ones tongue and swallow tears than suffer some terror or another in public. Of course, sometime that bottle will overflow, she can only hope she is the safety of privacy.
She is not terribly good at anything, though she certainly does everything. From trying to play the piano to skiing and playing sports, though she is a miserable shot and terrible at catching she never gives up. Smile and try again is her motto, after all you have to fall a few times before you can walk on your own.family & history

HISTORY:
Aya was always teased by her parents that she should have been born seven years earlier, when her mother was a freshman in college and madly in love with her father, a graduating senior. Her name had been chosen then, when her mother accidentally became pregnant. She was not however born seven years early; Anne miscarried and the two gladly put off the thought of children (with the occasional joke excluded) until they could afford to have one and, most importantly, were married.
Aya Chiloe Slottow, named after a small island off the coast of Chile, was born in Futaleufu Chile. Her parents had decided to visit several friends living in the area several months before Aya was due when Anne became terribly ill. Anne was advised by her doctor to remain in Futaleufu with her friend, the town physician as the long trip home at such a late date could be detrimental. Therefore Aya was born in Chile, only to be whisked home to the United States as soon as it was safe to travel such an odious journey.
Her childhood was mostly unimpressive, highlighted only by the adventurous spirit her parents embedded in her. Since she was large enough to fit in a kayak her parents took her on their numerous river trips, instilling a healthy love of the outdoors and adventure in the girl. She has never been terribly popular in school, preferring to be on the river or acting out some fantastic fantasy in the woods outside her home than trying to fit in with the city kids.
While her parents encouraged her fantasy, her mother certainly had a wild imagination even into her adulthood; they did not know what to do with the girl. She needed to fit in, she needed something other than rivers in her life, she needed to grow up. When Aya heard of Somnium Academy she knew she had found an answer for her parents she felt she could live with. If she had to give up the great outdoors of her home would find somewhere where she wouldn’t be that wild child. Maybe, if she was surrounded by wierdos, she would be normal. Anne and Derk supported her choice, going abroad would be good for her, she was intelligent and that was a school for talented, they could let their little Aya begin her adventuring, after all, they had no idea what to do with a teenaged girl anyway.
About all you can do in life is be who you are. Some people will love you for you. Most will love you for what you can do for them, and some won't like you at all"
-- Rita Mae Brown--dream form
A small boy eternally plagued with bruises and cuts as though ever returning from a particularly cruel bully, Aya suffers all her bottled up fears and emotions physically in her dream form. While in her dream form Aya is terrified of many common things, varying from spiders and snakes to stairwells and bodies of water. She becomes shy and quiet, glad to hide in a crowd avoid confrontation at all costs.
