Annette Baruma The Demens inn was noisy like usual. The bar was busy and everyone was hearty with joy. Yet, through the back and down a set of dark stairs, a door was slightly ajar, shining a dim light across the wall. Inside, a bed was neatly made and a candle flickered on a table. Sat on a wooden stool, was Annette, brushing her hair. She took her hair to the side and placed it in a blue ribbon, to match her plain blue dress. She sighed and stood up, placing the brush on the table and picking up her apron. It was white and slightly brown with dirt, but it was ruffled with white lace. She tied it neatly in a bow and blew out the candle. She left to the door and started on her way up the stairs, the noise getting slowly louder and her eyes rolling with annoyance. She opened the door to get through to the bar and as she entered, the noise picked up with a cheer, everyone did that when she came. She was always perked up by the cheer she got. She smiled and took away a glass from a local who winked at her. She rolled her eyes again, and began chatting to someone.

You had a bad day, you're taking one down You sing a sad song just to turn it around Circe swept into Demens Inn, her robes billowing behind her. She definately needed a cold one, and fast, after the amount of students giving her cheek and poppycock excuses for unfinished homework. She sat down at a table alone, and waited patiently, massaging her temples ahbituablly, despite not actually having a headache. A few seconds later, a rousing cheer erupted all around her, and she duly joined in the unofficial salutation of Annette the barmaid. That was enough to raise her spirits a few metres above above rock bottom. Anne attended some duties, and then began a conversation with another customer. She hated to be a nuisance, but in all fairness the customer in question had already been served. She waved a hand, hoping to gain the lovely barmaid's attention, but she was facing away and looked like the conversation could continue for a while. 'Umm, Anne! Could I get a pint please?', she called out, hoping she wouldn't be too bothered at the interuption.

Annette Baruma Anne smiled with the customer, as the door opened again and another local pushed his way in. She heard someone, familiar and yet not a local, shout. She turned away and followed the sound to the table at which Circe was sat. Anne smiled warmly and placed her hands on her hips. "Well, if it ain't my good old sorceress friend. Ain't feeling too good, ay?" She asked, still with a smile. She turned back to the bar and walked her way round, grabbing a pint glass from a shelf and grabbing a bottle. She placed the glass on the bar and opened the bottle, poured the contents into the glass and then sighed with the drop she couldn't get at the bottom. She smiled at a gentlemen who offered to take it off her hands, so Anne passed the bottle over. She grabbed the pint glass and headed over to Circe's table. "Here you are. The best thing for a girl like you! Say," Anne siddled into the seat opposite and leaned forward. "Whats happening in the other world?" she asked, with an air on non-chalant-less.

'Ain't feeling too great, ay?' 'No, definately not," said Bridget irately, as Annette walked to get her the pint. She dug around in the folds of her ceremonial garbs until she found what she was looknig for; a strange Dream replica of her Rubik's cube she had stumbled upon in the Second Square. It still amazed her that Demens operated on a trading system, which meant that the visitors such as herself need to forage around for any objects of interest unless they wanted to stay sober all night. She had witnessed quite a few fights between students over some bizarre objects over the years, and after learning she was a teacher had settled their quarrels imemdiately. She herself had even been in the odd one when she was desperate for a drink. This particular item was similiar to it's counterpart, only its colours were psychodelic and flashed and switched round a lot of the time.
Bridget took the glass greatfully when Anne returned and downed about a quarter of it in one go. She let out a large belch and smiled. 'Excusez-moi.' 'Mustn't forget my manners,' she thought jokingly.
'Say, what's happening in the other world?' said Anne curiously, as she sat at the table. 'Oh nothing much' Bridget answered, drawing another gulp, smaller this time, 'same old, same old. I'm having to chase a bunch of Sixth Formers* around for their A Level coursework.' She then realised half of that would probably be gobledegook to Anne's ears, and quickly added in: 'Basically they're not doing their work when they're asked.'

Annette Baruma Anne nodded, pretending she understood. Then, when she explained it Anne sat back and nodded again. She sighed and rubbed her hands on her apron. She sighed and looked round at the bar. The owner had taken over. She smiled at him gratefully. Anne took a long look at the sorceress. She stretched and took her hands onto her lap. She played with the apron and sighed. "T'is a pity. I'd love to visit your world. See all the sights. I've only been able to hear 'bout it from the dreamers." Anne moaned and groaned. She rolled her head round and stared around her, nosey like normal. She looked round and sighed. "Thats on the house by the way." she said, motioning towards the almost gone drink.

"T'is a pity. I'd love to visit your world. See all the sights. I've only been able to hear 'bout it from the dreamers." Bridget gave a small, unoticeable wince. She always felt weird when she remembered the Dream Beings couldn't access the Waking World. Did that mean the Beings didn't exist? If they didn't exist, what was it that linked the residents of Somium's minds together to make them a shared illusion? Maybe it was parallel universe they were in, and something about the school let them visit it? She dibnt know much about quantum physics. 'Maybe I should ask the Science teacher what they think.'
'Well, your world is fantastically strange. In a good way' From our point of view. It's perfectly normal to her to have a huge field where anything can appear. 'You can see parts of our world in the Mists you know.' Then she did a double take. She can't leave the Inn. 'Sorry.'
'Oh no. I insist!' she pleaded, taking out the glowing Rubik's cube. 'Take this. It's called a Rubik's cube in our world. I found it up in the Second Square. Please? Call it a mementio rather than a fee.' She grinned
(The Inn must have a field of philosophy around it lol)

Kaiser entered silently. He didn't want to make a fuss with any one. He was new after all. He didn't exactly fit in with everyone, or rather anyone here.
He sat at one of the tables. Alone. Maybe someone would come to him. Maybe they would stay away. He was a demon after all. He hurt people just to see them in pain. He wanted to change that but he knew he couldn't.
"Pardon me," he said to the two ladies. "May I have a drink?"
He listend to the others around the room. After sitting for a while he left.

Annette Baruma Anne smiled warmly as the 'Rubik's cube' glowed in her hand. It shone brightly and she dropped it onto her lap. She turned as another costumer asked for a drink. She nodded and stood up, motioning a quick thank you to Bridget. She picked up the rubiks cube and took it back to the bar, hiding it in an unused cupboard. She organized herself and poured the dream walker his drink. She took it back and placed it on the table for him. Is this alright for you? she asked, smiling sweetly.
