A number of people have been wondering what on earth these Plot Pages (or Plot trees) are lately, and have asked for an explanation thread. So I decided to break it down for you! The guide is in three posts, though I fear I’ve made it more complicated. If you have any more questions feel free to PM me, and I will respond and update the guide accordingly.
1-What is a Plot Page? The basic definition and purpose of a plot page
2-How do I use one? (Coming Soon) How to apply in a Plot Tree
3-Where can I get one? (Coming Soon) Finding a plot tree, customizing it, and posting it.

1. What is a Plot Page?On a lot of roleplay sites nowadays, there is a board for these 'plot trees/plot pages.' In essence, the roles of a Plot Tree are threefold: - a place for a roleplayers to record all their relationships, or 'ships' with other characters.
- a place to request a relationship between your character and another without bothering with PMs.
- a place to set the terms of a relationship and its history and, to avoid conflict in the future.
And, though we never admit it:
- To look nice!
A Plot tree consists of three major parts: the Relationships, the Form, and the List, each of which will probably be on separate posts. The RelationshipsThe first thing one sees after scrolling down is three to four colourful sections. These are the relationships, or ‘ships’. There is one section for each of the four basic types of relationship: Friendship, Hate, Love and Other/Family. In each of these sections one may find more detailed forms of these types. For example, if they are friends, how close are they? Usually this ranges from Acquaintance to Best friend or Inseparable. With Love, the case is whether it is a case of romantic love or erotic love, with ships such as One Night Stand, Current Relationship and Crush. A notable ship in this section is Final, which is the roleplaying term for two character who are soul mates, and will be the ‘Final’ character they love. If you wish to be finals, it is etiquette to contact the other person before you post in a plot tree. This applies to similarly important ships, though those are more flexible. The FormThe Form is an area of text wrapped in code. This is what is used by others to apply for ships. For more information on filling out the Form, see ‘How do I use it?’ below. The form basically consists of: The character name, icon(s), relationships, and history. The last two are the most important ones. The ListWhen someone accepts a form, they copy and post the code here, making up a List of all their ships.
