I. General
Ia. Respect is the key to a well maintained forum. Please show some. Not only to Admin and Staff but to other Members as well.
Ib. SoD is considered a literate forum. Therefore it is expected of you to use correct grammar and spelling. This rule is not particularly enforced in Out of Character board.
Ic. SoD is also considered a intermediate to advanced roleplay site. We welcome beginnings but please bear in mind that we do expect decent levels of writing. Admins and moderators have the right to decide what 'decent levels' are at their own discretion.
Id. Do not spam, trash, troll, flame or bring about internet hate-wars. You will be banned. Also don't swear. We don't mind particularly but Proboards does.
II. Characters
IIa. When registering you may use whatever username you desire. However, as soon as you are registered and before you post an application you must edit your display name to your character's First and Last name properly capitalised. To change your display name go to Profile then Modify Profile.
IIb. You may create as many characters as you want, but only if you know that you can keep them all active. Please create a new account for each new character you make. If two or more of your characters are in the same thread then please post separately for each of them (as in: use that character's account to post as that character).
IIc. No Mary Sues of Gary Stus. We don't want perfect characters as their dream form would be incredibly dull.
IId. Your character must be portrayed by a real person (only exception is for Dream Beings and Dream Forms) and no two characters can have the same play-by (it's allowed if they are twins). Check out the Face Claim thread.
III. Application
IIIa. Everybody must fill out an Application Form. You will have a week from registering to complete the Application Form and post it in the Pending Applications board. Do not be offended if staff ask for amendments in your profile prior to them approving you.
IIIb. You may post incomplete applications if you mark them with [Incomplete] or similar. You still need to complete it within a week after registering.
IIIc. Once approved your application (which will now be called your Character Profile) will be moved to a new location in the appropriate sub board. Do not post in anywhere but the Out Of Character boards until your application has been approved.
IV. Roleplaying
IVa. All in character posts must be written in third person, past tense. No I, me or we except in speech or in thought. Speech should be indicated with quotation marks: " " or ' '. Thought indicated in italics or similar.
IVb. Do not double post. If you have more to write then modify your original post and add what you need that way. This rule applies in Out of Character boards as well. Double posting will be considered spamming.
IVc. This forum is rated approximately PG-13, per the proboards ToS. No graphic sex or violence.
IVd. No god-modding. Your character isn't all powerful and cannot control another character's actions. Exceptions to this rule is if you have already discussed it with the other character's creator and they have allowed it.
IVe. Characters can die, but when they die they won't come back (just like in real life). You can not kill off another character without their permission but you can kill your own. Just bear in mind the consequences.
IVf. If you're a Dream Being you can only post in the Dream World. But don't worry, there's plenty to do there.
V. Graphics
Va. All avatars should be 100x100 in size and all signatures SHOULD NOT STRETCH THE PAGE or be too big it seems obscene. They should not contain anything graphically violent or sexual. Also it would be nice, although not necessary, if you link your Character Profile in your signature.
Vb. If you did not make the graphic yourself then you must credit the person who did. It's just basic politeness.
