Has no one told you she's not breathing?
Hello I'm your mind giving you someone to talk to
Hello

character basics
NICKNAMES: Most stick to her given name, though she doesn't mind others giving her sing-song names.
AGE: 16
GROUP: Student
YEAR: 11
BIRTHDAY: April 11
GENDER: Female
PLAY-BY: Becca (last name unknown.)appearance
Ayla is of average height and fairly slim build. Her hair is naturally black, but currently overwhelmed by a thoroughly bright teal. Her dark brown eyes are surrounded by a glittering teal frame to match her dyed locks. She keeps a small black stud above her lip, and a sleek silver ring on the lower. Additionally, she has a naval piercing which is changed out whenever it suits her fancy.
Her clothing choices are, generally speaking, anything out of the ordinary. Mismatched neon socks, two shoes of the same model but different color, personalized sneakers, studded belts, scarves with bizarre buttons or anthropomorphic kitchen items stitched to the end. Ayla will generally wear anything that has caught her attention, no matter how quirky it may be.personality
*Likes*
-Techno/Electronic/Trance Music-
Ayla prefers the kind of music that helps her drift away from reality, as she finds life is often too dramatic for her tastes.
-Off-beat fashions-
Drawn to strange prints and mis-matched materials, Ayla wears what she does and decorates her surroundings as she does not to "fight the power", but simply because she is fascinated by strange things.
-Photography-
Rare is the moment when this girl is found without some form of camera. On days where the weather may be particularly interesting, it would not be surprising to find that she has cut class in favor of an un-planned photo shoot.
-Kid Flicks-
While most teenagers are piling into vampire flicks or movies jammed with explosion and sex, Ayla is generally sitting in the center of a theatre, bag of gummie bears in hand, waiting for a movie like Toy Story or Finding Nemo to play.
-Rain, and all that comes with it-
So refreshing and meditative! Pre-rain and post-rain weather are both thrilling. The sound, the smell, the clouds. It's all too wonderful to hate.
*Dislikes*
-Death Metal-
While she's unlikely to get into anyone's face about their musical tastes, Ayla would rather listen to a cat in heat than the screeching of Death Metal.
-Math-
Unfortunately, Ayla suffers from dyscalcula and thusly sees numbers backwards quite often. Having to take three or four times as long as other students to complete a test causes her to feel miserable and self conscious. She'll often shut down and fill in random numbers, so long as she doesn't wind up the last to finish.
-Tofu-
Why would anyone eat something that tastes like a thrown-back relative of a sponge?!
-Drama Queens-
Life is too short to spend it bitchin' and moanin'. Ayla isn't one for popularity contests, nor is she one for all of the hairball drama that comes along with it. She'll generally roll her eyes and walk away from someone in the middle of dramatic antics.
-Cigarettes-
Having lost several of her family members to lung cancer, Ayla loathes both cigars and cigarettes. She refuses to smoke them herself and will often leave if someone has lit up nearby.
---
Ayla doesn't put much stock in people, believing that they'll disappear soon or completely turn their backs on her, thus she never puts much effort or faith in relationships- platonic or otherwise. Though her lack of faith in friendship would mark her out to be a loner, she is by no means unfriendly. She smiles often and loves a good joke, and will go out of her way to help a small child or the elderly. It is a peculiar mix of traits, true. That she is kind and friendly despite her lack of faith in friendship is a remnant of her mother. Ayla's mother was exceptionally kind and, as far as Ayla could remember, she had never said or done a cruel thing in her life. It could be that she simply takes after her dear mother, though it is just as likely that she is subconsciously emulating her as a way of coping with her absence.
While generally silent and zombie-like during academic courses, a suddenly bold personality shines during any artistic outlet. Those who are partnered with Ayla for a class project will find themselves in good hands when it comes videos or eye-catching presentation boards. It isn't that she doesn't care about her scores, nor does she find academics to be a waste of time. She simply finds things which are routine to be painfully dull. Thus other students might find her doing strange things to deal with the routine of homework; pinning math homework to a tree branch and doing it upside down, typing her English essay with giant rubber monster hands, studying biology while wearing bug vision glasses. Any teacher that makes a habit of shaking up their lessons would likely become a favorite of Ayla's, while those who keep their classes straight laced and routine would likely end up as one of the cartoon dinosaurs in her notebook.
When it comes to being given a hard time, Ayla is prone to eye-rolling and walking away while the person is in the middle of their speech. Whether or not the person thinks they've won, she doesn't really care. She'd simply rather not hear it. As she doesn't stick around long enough to listen to the taunting, it is rather rare to rile her up enough to fight back. When it reaches this point she is, unfortunately, not above slugging a blabber mouth across the face- gender regardless.family & history
FATHER: Antonio St.Claire, 43, Art Dealer
MOTHER: Claudia St.Claire, 38 at time of death, pianist
SIBLINGS: None
OTHER FAMILY: Renee St.Claire, grandmother (A lady never tells her age!) Countless "stepmother of the month"s.
HISTORY:
Life was wonderful and grand through her elementary school years. Ayla's family had heavy pockets and sent her to rather upscale private schools. Her mother, father, and Grandmother all attended each open house, each student art showing that she participated in. Her birthday parties were grand, vacations were frequent, little Ayla had plenty of friends and endless days of laughs. When her mother passed, her happy life began to change.
Her family's wealth remained, but as time went by it was the feeling of family that began to deplete. Her father would periodically miss her school events, and then cease to show altogether. The grand birthdays turned from smashing full-class events, to a single cupcake a-la Grandmother, the only one to remember the special date. Eventually, her father ceased being anything like he was before. Rarely did he see Ayla anymore, except to introduce one of his 20-something 'stepmother of the month's, as Ayla called them.
Word of her father's lecherous habits spread amongst the community and the parents, right down to her own school mates catching wind of the gossip. Somehow her father's fall from grace was enough for now former friends to sever their ties to her. As more rumors would spread of her, almost always true, no one would be there to defend or comfort her. Instead of fighting, crying, or lashing out, she simply grew more and more hollow. Comfort came in the collecting of peculiar objects and partaking in abnormal activities, anything to fascinate and avoid the ever-deeper ditch her life was rolling into.
It was only Ayla's Grandmother that noticed how deeply the young girl was upset; how much she had become a shell of her former self. Surmising that the young girl could use a change of scenery and a fresh start away from home, it was Grandmother St.Claire that sent off Ayla's application to Somnium Academy.
A brand new student at the Academy, Ayla is doing the best to keep her chin up and forget the dreary years.dream form
In the dream world, Ayla shows up as a rather generic Disney-esque princess. It is not particularly out of wanting to -be- a princess or the center of attention, but merely out of envy. More than anything, she wishes for a 'happily ever after'.
The dresses seem to change each time she enters the dream world, perhaps depending on what she was thinking just before she dozed off, but each time they are nearly identical to a well known Disney Princess. Possibly attributing to lacking a static form is the fact that she has trouble truly identifying with anyone or anything other than herself.
The only constant feature while within the dream world is a masquerade mask that never falls from her face, no matter what she is doing or what appearance she has taken. Even her hair changes its color, everything from natural colors to the bright hues she makes a habit of adopting. Unnatural hair colors are far less frequent.
