George wandered happily through the stalls of the carnival, grin lighting up his face. If there was one reason he liked this school, it was its integral wackiness. Next to no other English boarding schools hosted carnivals. He should know, he’s been to quite a few. No other place than Somnium would even consider it. But here he was, heading to his shift on the…Drinks Stand wasn’t it? He sure hoped so; otherwise he would be mortified when the true owners of the shift turned up. If they turned up. That was one thing worrying George: what if the student he was meant to be partnering just decided to bunk off and join in the fun instead?
It was all well and good wanting him to work on the stall, he was happy to. He’d been ‘dragged up proper’ as his mother liked to say, but he would really rather not submit himself to the torture of working with somebody he didn’t know. He was under no illusions that he was clumsy (he was however unaware of the sheer volume of his clumsiness) and to him ‘Drink Stall’ was loosely translated into ‘sticky stains that ruin your partner’s clothes’. But he wasn’t dreading this, no siree.
George glance up ahead, only to see that the Drinks Stall already had one person waiting at it. To his freaked out mind, this person had an angry, impatient expression and a foot tapping forebodingly on the floor. And devil horns. The person in question probably had none of these things, but to George it was enough of a reason to start running. He nearly knocked over a pair of Year Tens and even a fellow Year 11. ”Sorry!” he shouted over his shoulder, feeling momentarily guilty, as him running at full pelt was the human equivalent of a deer trying to mow down some rabbits.
Finally he arrived at the stall, panting hard and hoping to God his partner-for-the-day didn’t try to spear him with his/her trident. ”Sorry I’m...late” he gasped desperately. ”I’m George…Hale, I’m…your partner…here.” George said with great difficulty, motioning to the school desk covered in a cheap tablecloth that he was currently leaning on and trying to catch his breath.

Sunshine seemed to just rain down from the sky on this magnificent day, a day full of high energy, non-stop laughter, and the sensation of freedom. Finally, the carnival was here! It took a minute to register in her head when others were so jovial about it. This is how the routine would go: "Shaylee! The carnival is here!" "Oh...that's nice." (Few Minutes Later) "Oh, my, god!! NO FLIPPING WAY!! THE CARNIVAL IS HERE!" That's Shaylee for you. You might call her the master of a skill known as the "delayed reaction." Nothing was going to bring her down today, this was what she had been anticipating all month long. It was her time to shine.
Shaylee could almost feel her heart pumping with excitement the second she stepped out of her dorm and out into the world. She wanted to look nice for the carnival, though she didn't know why, her appearance usually didn't matter to her. She stepped out in a summery, checkered dress that fell around four inches above her knees. It seemed like something casual enough for an event like this, its checks of red, yellow, blue, and orange were friendly and inviting. The thin black belt around her waist was a little too tight on her, but she figured she could manage a few hours of fun. "Alright, here I go!"
It was a mob of students outside, all anxiously scampering about for their share of the fun. Her smile was soft, not flashing her pearly whites. It just wasn't the right time for it, maybe a ride on the ferris wheel or winning a stuffed bear would make her more willing. Shaylee stopped for a moment, to glance around at her surroundings. There was a basketball game, some darts, a place to win some fish, and a few other stalls selling various trinkets. Other than the ferris wheel, not many other things seemed to tug at her to go try out. Maybe I'll find someone to ride the ferris wheel with! But that would be a while from now. Right now, her throat felt bone dry, she needed to find something to drink. A quick scan of the area, the drink stand was only a short distance away. I guess I'll just buy a water, or maybe a Sierra Mist.
As she approached the stand, she had to push her way through the crowd just to even hope to get a drink. "Excuse me, pardon me!" Her chestnut brown hair, resting on her shoulders, almost got caught in the zipper of a 12th year students jacket. She apologized while the guys chortled. Idiots... But even they could not bring her chipper spirits down. Finally, after what seemed like an odyssey, she approached the front of the beverage stand. "Hi, can I get a bottle of water please?" A slight breeze blew her bangs into her eyes, she quickly swept them away.
She noticed the boy behind the stand looked vaguely familiar. I know him from somewhere, but where? Suddenly, it popped into her head. His name was George, she had played checkers with him in the rec room the other day. "Hi George! Its me Shaylee!" She hoped he remembered her, people usually got Shaylee mixed up with others. It was easy to lose her in a crowd.

George whirled around as he heard the request from the customer behind him. He'd better get started, because otherwise he was going to feel guilty about being the second to arrive all day. He'd had such good intentions this morning, he had set his alarm the previous evening, and, true to form, had slept right through it. This resulted in his getting dressed while running out of the door, getting his shirt stuck over his head, and consequently, falling down the stairs. The bruise on the side of his face was the loving mark the bottom step had left him, and the one on his back from the shoe one of his dorm-mates had tossed at him for waking them up. Yep, he was just the best roomie ever.
"Hi George! It’s me Shaylee!"
George’s eyes widened in recognition as he took in the pretty girl who stood before him. Shaylee! Shaylee, who’d played him at checkers, and who’d helped him up when he (very embarrassingly) got stuck on the floor. Shaylee, who was sweet and kind and had played red. Shaylee, who looked very pretty in her summer dress.
”Shaylee!” he smiled, and enveloped her in a casual, friendly hug. He was far taller than her, and he couldn’t help but notice that she smelled really nice. He was very careful not to hold onto her more than was necessary, he didn’t want to make her nervous, especially since he was a year younger than her and with a crush that he was sure was evident in every word he said and every movement he made. He was no longer nervy around her; he had a little more self-control than that, but still… He released her gently, and held her by the shoulders. His eyes, warm with friendship and the general mood of Carnival Day, looked her up and down almost critically, though he was definitely not seeing any faults.
”Wow...You look, well,” George took a deep breath, trying to avoid the horrible, embarrassing babbling disease that seemed to overcome him when he tried to talk to her. He closed his eyes momentarily to collect himself, and started again. ”I love your dress, and it’s great to see you again.” Haha! He thought to himself. Nothing embarrassing there! Still attempting to keep his cool, George turned to the table behind him and scooped up a bottle of water, slippery with condensation. ”This is what you came for, right?” he said, winking.

Frankie Clearwater was not a late person, so it made perfect sense that she arrived at her booth half an hour early. Sure, there was a committee whose job it was to set up and really, she hadn't expected them to need her help [and indeed they hadn't], but that didn't mean she wasn't going to do the polite thing and offer. Luckily, they hadn't finished much after her arrival, so she was free to thus rearrange everything to be much more convenient which, with years of practice under her belt, did not take too long.
So with about fifteen minutes still until her partner was due to show up, she had nothing to do but sit and wait. Which was what she thus proceeded to do for fifteen minutes, until she noticed someone lurching over her way. Oh god. He was staring right at her and running towards her. Couldn't he just be a normal human and walk like it wasn't a big thing? Pretty please? Frankie thought she might pass out.
When he finally arrived, she was a little startled at how big he was. Jeez, couldn't they have given her someone a little less intimidating?
"Aha, that's okay..." she said, averting her eyes awkwardly. "I'm Frankie."
With the introductions out of the way, it seemed as if the customers were about to start piling up. And, of course, the first customer turned out to be someone George wanted to flirt with. Great. Just great. If he sat and flirted while she was forced to do everthing, she was going to drown him in Coca Cola and carve "I will not hug customers" into his arms. So Da Vinci Code.

Shaylee couldn't help but smile when George embraced her. He was holding a little tight, but it was nice to give someone a friendly hug once and a while. It took her a moment to notice, but the girl standing next to George didn't seem to pleased at her arrival. She recognized this girl as Frankie, they were in the same year together. It took only a casual glance to notice Frankie trying to avert her eyes and hold back frustration as the customers around them started piling up. "Yup, this is what I came for! Now, do I have to pay with tickets or cash?" It was an honest question, she wasn't completely sure whether the response she would get would be a snippy one or a courteous one.
OOC: Ugh...sorry! No muse...

OUTFIT River arrived right on time for his shift. He was almost never late, making him pretty boring that way. Rio had spent the majority of his time at the carnival filming other people and different scenes. It was a little creepy but he needed inspiration...well he had inspiration already but no actors so he figured he should start working on another project for the time being.
When he got to the drink stand he instantly saw the beer. River wasn't like most teenage boys, or really teenagers for that matter. He was pretty mature and no one really knew why he had always been so 'wise beyond his years'. It's not that he was against alcohol, it had just never fallen into his possession and he never really thought about seeking it out. His mind was always occupied with other things. Nevertheless, he placed his camera on the opposite side of the drink stand from the beer before waiting for his partner to arrive or a customer to come.
