“Loo-loo-loo,” Serin sung under her breath. She read her book slowly, savoring the words. It was the weekend, and she’d be damned if she wasn’t going to enjoy her free time.
The library was one of Serin’s favorite haunts in the school. She was sitting on what she found to be a rather comfy chair next to a window between two shelves. The sun was high enough that she didn’t have to sit with a lamp to read, just the way she liked it. She took a deep breath of what she called “library air”. There were few things in the world as good as the smell of books, Serin believed. She heard someone walking through the library and the movement stopped, just briefly. She ignored it and kept reading her book.
It was surprising how many people actual stopped to stare at the girl sitting upside-down in her chair.
Serin had been at Somnium long enough that she was sure almost everyone had seen some of the so-called “strange” things she did in her spare time. She didn’t see anything wrong with sitting upside down in a chair. Not only did it make reading a more enjoyable activity, but it was also a lot more comfortable. Serin also found herself liking the peculiar shade of red her entire face turned after so much time.
It was quite becoming, in her opinion.
Finishing the book with a sigh, Serin struggled to sit up in her chair. She set the book in the floor and pushed against the arm of the chair with her hand, only to slip on the leather and fall into a heap on the floor. Groaning, she looked to her side and pulled her stuffed animal towards her and under her arm.
She was tempted to try to stand back up, but logic said it was a bad idea with the way her head was spinning.
“Those dots aren’t normally there,” she said in a sort of daze, trying to stare at the bight colored spots in her vision that only disappeared when she focused on one.
