Jason Conners sat staring at the TV for a long time, watching a nature show, which, really he shouldn't be watching. It was the usual with the lions, only Jace wasn't very interested in them, so he switched off the TV and looked around. Where on earth is everyone? It was a Friday night and he had nothing better to do and even though he should be doing his homework, he couldn't be less bothered. He picked up his glass and gulped down the last it. The good thing was, it looked like water, when in fact it was vodka that he'd snuck in, but he was down to his last bottle. Sighing, he stood up and walked over to Hi Fi, flipped out a CD and turned it on. Nickleback - I'd Come For you blasted from the speakers and filled the whole room. Jace grinned and lay on the couch, flicking though a magazine he'd found. Jace had only been at Somniun Academy for a few weeks and already he'd been in trouble for not doing homework or misbehaving during class. He'd talked to his brother, Tobias, who wasn't very happy with his behavior, but he could hardly talk. Both brothers were as bad as each other.

((Mind if I join?))
Chad had finished his homework and was now going for a walk. No where in particular, just going wherever seemed interesting. As he walked down the hall he heard sounds coming from the Recreation Room. Curious he walked to the door and looked in to see who was there.
Chad watched as the guy walked to the Hi Fi. Slowly he pushed the door open and walked in. The guy was alone. Chad made his way to the table and sat down, leaning back in the chair till it was balancing on the back two legs. He closed his eyes and relaxed.

Jace hadn't noticed anyone walk in. He was too busy reading some stupid article about cars and the newest Ferrari, which could go at top speeds of over 200mph. Jace rolled his eyes at the picture of the car and placed the magazine on the table, only then did he see some one was in the room with him. Jace blinked a few times, trying to remember if he'd heard anyone, but then again, the music was on very loud. He sat up and grinned at the other guy. "Don't fall back and hit your head, mate!" He laughed a little and shook his head. He needed to get out more and he needed to get more friends.

Chad sat there and listened to the music, basically ignoring the stranger. Suddenly he heard a voice behind the music. He was a little shocked and almost fell back but managed to stand up quick enough. How ironic...
Chad stood there for a minute, a little annoyed and embarrassed, before reaching down for the chair and placing it back on all four. "Thanks for the warning." After sitting back down he looked over to the other guy. "So... are you new?"

Jace chuckled as he saw the guy fall off his chair, but covered his mouth, managing to muffle his laughs and stop all together. He cleared his throat and calmed himself down before speaking. "Yup. Came here a few weeks ago, but I've already got detention twice and had a few shouting moments from my teachers for undone homework and such. It's pretty fun here. Better than my old school anyway. At my old school, the teachers used to drone on and on and then when it came to our tests, we were awful and the teachers couldn't understand why." He clasped his hands behind his head and grinned friendlily at the guy. "What about you? Are you new here?"

The music seemed to be nothing more than another part of the background. He gave a smile before replying, "Sounds like you've had a good start." Chad crossed his arms and placed them on the table causing him to lean forward. "Yeah I'm new. I've been here for about 10 days or so." After answering the new guy's question, he looked over to the clock then back to him.
Chad was basically sticking around so he could have an excuse for his roommate if he decided to question why he'd been up so late.

Jace smirked at the guy's comment and shrugged. "I guess you could say that...but I like to bend the rules a little. Just to make life that more fun. You should try it sometime." Jace had always been a rebel and hated rules, even if they were there to keep him safe and such, but he was never one to be safe. He liked to take risks and he liked to have fun doing it. Especially showing off in front of girls. "I'm Jace, by the way. And you are...?" Jace looked up and down the guy. He may have been here for ten days, but I haven't seen him before and I spend most of my time trying to meet new people.

"I might have to." He doubted it would happen but it might. "Problem is I'm not much of a social person, might be why we haven't met till now." He closed his eyes as he did before, not tired or anything, the darkness just seemed peaceful to him for some strange reason.
"I'm Jace, by the way. And you are...?" Chad slowly opened his eyes, "I'm Chad... Nice to meet you, Jace..." This was the first time Chad had actually been part of a conversation since he had gotten here.

Jace raised a brow at Chad, but said nothing about his social problem and just nodded slowly at him. Jace knelt on the couch, so he leaned forward on the back of the couch, so now he was fully facing Chad. His deep blue eyes searched Chad's face for any emotion, or any indication that he should leave, but he saw none. Jace smiled. "Hmm. I've never been scared to talk...but I guess when you've been brought up in a care home, you need to be able to defend yourself from the other kids." As he talked, his Irish accent slipped and it could be heard fully. Jace didn't want people to know he was Irish, but now he'd let his accent slip, he decided to let go on the act and speak normally, for once.

Watched as Jace stared. Chad lifted a brow in confusion but decided not too really think on that too much.
He listened to Jace continue. "Hmm. I've never been scared to talk...but I guess when you've been brought up in a care home, you need to be able to defend yourself from the other kids." After this he simply spoke softly and almost as if it was a whisper, "Yep that's it." No reason to explain my history tonight. Chad noticed a change in Jace's expression, then finally noticed the slip of an accent. "Your irish?"

Jace raised a brow at Chad when he spoke quietly. What's this guy hiding? Jace blinked a few times, then scratched the back of his head and sighed inwardly. Maybe I could get him to talk more. By that time, Jace's gaze had wavered to the floor, but when he inquired about his accent, Jace looked up and nodded. "Aye, that I am." He let his full, thick, lush accent show and he raked a hand though his hair. "So...what about you? How'd you end up here?" Jace spoke softly, slowly. He didn't want to scare the guy off.

This guy is curious. Chad simply smiled at the thought. Now look what you got yourself into... Chad leaned back again, back to the position it was in before. Maybe I won't fall back this time.
"Ah. Nice, my grandmother was irish." He stopped, refusing to get too carried away. "You looked depressed when you let it slip. Want it kept a secret? Like I said I'm not too social. It won't be getting too far." he replied with a grin.
"So...what about you? How'd you end up here?" He smiled. Here it goes... "Well, to be honest its not much. I just decided to try joining the school. Seemed interesting enough."

Jace shrugged, then let his eyes shift side to side a little, but other than that, his face kept emotionless. "It's...hard to explain. I'm not ashamed to be Irish, it's just...I have a few unfinished problems that might catch up with me..." He tried not to reveal too much of just how bad his past had been. A few unfinished problems? Please, that's putting it way too lightly. I just hope Tobias hasn't been found yet. At that thought, Jace's emotionless face faltered, and a little bit of worry etched across his face, but it was gone as quickly as it had come. He loved his brother dearly, and if he was ever hurt, Jace would go the the ends of the earth to get his revenge. "What happened before you came here?" He tried to change the subject away from him and those horrid thoughts.

"Well... hope you can get through those unfinished problems." He noticed the small change in his tone and the worry that masked Jace's face. Well... this is getting interesting...
"Are you actually interested or just bored?" he questioned. No reason to explain to someone who would just throw it away.

Jace shrugged and lay back on the couch, mostly so that Chad couldn't see the worry which bubbled and boiled inside him. It wouldn't be long before he cracked. "I hope I never see those unfinished problems or even..." He sighed and shook his head. Dammit, I've told too much. He knows I'm Irish, he knows my name, if he finds me, I'm a dead man. "I'm actually interested. I could watch TV or listen to the music, but instead, I'm listening to you." Thank god he can't see my face.

"I hope I never see those unfinished problems or even..." What the hell did I get myself into this time... "Uh... Ok. Sorry I said anything."
Chad watched as Jace turned away. Yeah... He looks interested... "Well... If you really want to know I guess it wouldn't hurt."
"Well... to put it simply my mother died when I was eight and left me with my abusive father. He drank one too many alchol and took too many drugs which led him to dying of a heartattack. Maybe more but I can't remember anything else that led to his death. For a while I lived on the streets constantly getting myself into trouble and making enemies." He paused for a second remembering all his past up to that point.
"Luckily my grandmother heard of my state and took me away to live with her. After that I decided to come here since it was a boarding school. My grandmother was growing old anyway, it would not take long for her life to end as well. And now were here." He laughed recalling all he had just said. "Well I meant to put it imply but it came out longer than I expected."

As Jace listened, he closed his eyes and tried to relax as much as possible since he could feel his body shaking from something. When Chad had finished speaking, Jace sat up and leaned forwards against the back of the couch again, only he was facing sideways. This guy has had a bad past, just like me, but I wonder... He nodded slowly towards Chad and sighed. "My parents died when I was six, in a car crash while my father was trying to get my mother to hospital. I actually wasn't very bothered about my father's death, since he was a right bastard and a drunk, but my mother was always ill, so I think the crash put her out of her misery. My brother and I went to live with our uncle, who was even worse than our father, and during that, I nearly died because he whacked me round the head too many times and we were put in to care. My brother did try to run away from there, but I wasn't strong enough, so he stayed and we've never been apart until now." Jace just stared at the floor, not wanting to look and see how Chad thought of that.

Chad was a little irritated he had even said anything. I don't want any sympathy. I've had enough of that crap. He turned to look away, silently cursing himself under his breath. As he sat there he noticed some movement in the corner of his eye. He turned back to see what was happening.
He listened to his story of the past. Wow I thought mine was bad... He looked over to see Jace facing the floor. What is he worried about? He leaned back again and closed his eyes. "I wasn't going to ask for your story. You didn't have to tell me." He sighed and looked back to Jace. "I'm curious though. What happened to you two? I know your here but where is your brother?" He was a little unsure for asking but if Jace didn't want to mention it. He shouldn't had told his past.

Jace didn't actually know why he'd told Chad about his past. Maybe it was just spur of the moment, or maybe, just maybe, Jace felt he could relate to Chad and he felt like he could tell the guy anything, which helped him. Sighing, Jace just shrugged. "I don't know why I told you..." His voice trailed off as he still stared at the floor. When Chad asked about his brother, his head jerked up. "Tobias? He's hiding. I came here because it was far from my home life and I thought I could be safe here. I don't know what Tobias is doing, but I just hope he's safe and away from...things."

"I don't know why I told you..." "I don't either." Chad smiled after the joke, but quickly silenced knowing that Jace was serious. Chad continued to listen to him. Jace was seeming to open up more as the night went on. Well, atleast I'm good for something... "I don't know what Tobias is doing, but I just hope he's safe and away from...things." Things? What is going on?

Jace just sighed and shook his head. Why the hell am I saying stuff like this to a guy I just met? This stuff I'm telling him could end both my life and Tobias' life. This is crazy. I've got to stop before I go in to deep, or maybe it's too late... Jace could feel a lump in his throat as he thought of that. What if it was too late? "So...um...what year are you in, Chad?" Jace wanted to clear his mind of those thoughts and change the subject, fast, before it really became dangerous.

Chad lied back and relaxed. As the two sat there in silence, Chad noticed Jace acting a little nervous. It made Chad suspicious. "Oh... I'm year twelve. You?"

Jace took some nice deep breaths and forced himself to relax. There's no way he could find you here and Tobias is safe where he is too. Talking to a guy at school won't get you in to trouble anymore than if you didn't tell anyone. Stop freaking out so much. This isn't like you at all. Be calm, cool and collected. The voice inside Jace's head offered a lot of comfort and he managed to lie down on the couch and close his eyes as he relaxed. When Chad spoke, Jace remained calm while taking slow, deep breaths. "I'm a year younger than you. I'm in year 11," he murmured softly. His tone of voice had changed entirely

Chad looked to the clock. Might have to end this soon. He yawned before looking back over to Jace who seemed a lot more calm now. What a change in attitude... Once Jace spoke, Chad grinned, "Thats cool." He looked back to the clock, before turning back. "Uh... So..." Chad wasn't one to actually start conversations. "...Anything interesting happen to you lately?" He really wasn't interested in the subject but he didn't want to leave just yet.

Jace placed a hand over his mouth to stifle a sarcastic laugh which was about to erupt from his lips. I think I've had too much stuff happen lately. He cleared his throat and calmed himself down again. "Er...no, not really. Have you seen any hot girls around here lately? I'm feeling kind of lonely without some female company." He said that in a light way, not meaning any harm or anything. He just wanted to lighten to mood up a bit, since he was feeling a little depressed.

Did I not mention I was anti-social? "Not really. I don't show myself often remember? I tend to avoid everyone and the girls stay away from me. I guess I freak them out." He couldn't help but laugh. Chad yawned again, starting to get tired. He stood up to keep himself from dozing off. He hadn't been getting much sleep lately. "I have met one girl though. Not sure if she would be your type."

Jace raised a brow at him. Maybe if you cleaned your act up and stopped being so closed up and shy, then maybe you won't have that problem. Just because you've had a bumpy ride before you got here is no excuse. Jace cocked his head at Chad. "You've met a girl? Well, that's a start. Who is she and what is she like?" Maybe I ought to help this guy out a little, get him a little more relaxed around strangers and stuff. It would help him a lot. Jace stared at the far wall as he thought all of this out in his head.

Here comes the questions again... Chad sat up and looked torwards Jace, "Her name is Frankie. And really she is like me, probably worse." he paused thinking about how she would react if she heard him say that. "Actually I've known her for a while, before I came here. We just bumped in on each other."
He noticed Jace staring off at a wall. Chad narrowed his eyes, "Wait... What are you thinking?" Chad hadn't known the guy for too long and is already figuring him out.

Jace quickly jerked his head away from the wall and looked at Chad, grinning. "Huh? Oh, nothing. I'm just...thinking about stuff, that's all." He ran a hand though his hair and cleared his throat again. "So...this Frankie, do you like her as a friend or what? I mean, how long have you known her?" Jace was talking and trying to make sense of his thoughts at the same time, which wasn't easy since men usually can't miltitask as well as women do. He rubbed his forehead, feeling a little head ache begin to bubble with pain.

Chad's eyes still were narrowed but he quickly got over it [because it was giving him a headache staring like that].
"Frankie is just a friend. And I've known her a while back before I came here." The thoughts about back then weren't anything Jace was thinking of. Chad just met her often and the two sort of bonded well.
