Carmen did not play sports, but that did not stop her from being in the sports hall. Nothing, really, stopped Carmen from entering strange places that either she was not allowed to be in or made no sense for her to inhabit, so no one should have been too surprised. No one should have been surprised about her current outfit, either. It was neither practical for sports or inconspicuous, both of which would have probably been a good idea when sneaking around in a sports building.

Somehow, however, she'd managed to forego her cigarettes, which was just as well since she didn't really think that the sporty types would appreciate her nicotine addiction. She didn't even really appreciate it, but that was neither here nor there and the location of her cigarettes was not really important to the task at hand: locate an attractive boy and break his heart.

Sure, that might have been a bit heartless and even Carmen would have been able to see where people were coming from, but from where she was sitting, all attractive boys needed to have their egos shot a bit, especially the jocks. And especially anyone that had ever made fun of a particular chubby person, whether to her face or not, deserved to be crushed beneath the soles of her shockingly pink sandals.

She was not, as of yet, prepared to venture fully into the sports hall yet. It would take the perfect moment, the perfect time between things, and that perfect moment was just not this one. So she was standing outside, in an alcove, peering into the window. If anyone was good at hiding, it was, without a doubt, Carmen Liddell. Oh yeah.

Wet socks squelched upon the soft Sports Hall floor, leaving a trail of watery and muddy footprints in their wake. Matt McArthur had spent the majority of that morning wandering forlornly around the Academy building and grounds searching for his shoes. He had been shoeless now for almost a full twenty-four hours and he had begun to get a little sick of it. Matt had a tendency to misplace things, his shoes especially. The reason being that he never really enjoyed wearing them, always preferring the freedom of feeling his bare feet in the breeze. That morning, however, he had awoken with cold feet, and his collection of odd and exceptionally holed socks did meagre work in restoring the warmth to his toes.

He had finished searching his entire dormitory. The room was already such a sty that the action of Matt throwing clothes, books and accessories all over the place in search of his prodigal shoes did little to alter its supremely messy state. Then it was onto the Recreation Room where he managed to procure a number of funny looks as he floundered across the floor to peer under bookcases, sofas and an assortment of other things. Still no shoes to be found, Matt had then made his way across the morning mud and dew to the Academy building and in through the Sports Hall entrance. Not that he would ever find his shoes in the Sports Hall, many would consider him the epitome of the lazy un-sporty sod and he would agree.

Squelching his way past the abandoned basket ball hoops and tennis nets, Matt finally reached the double doors that led to the corridors of the Academy. It was then that he noticed a a familiar red head bobbing at the window. A grin lifted Matt's lips as he opened the doors with a bang and yelled, "Sup Caaaaar?"

Carmen liked to pride herself on being difficult to startle, though this was probably unwise. The thought that she was that sturdy was pure ego and nothing more. Carmen was no harder or easier to startle than the average person and so, despite what she might have insisted, the banging and clanging and yelling made her jump.

She whirled around, preparing to be face to face with a jock or an outraged teacher or something, only to discover that it was a pleasantly familiar face. Ignoring the rapid pounding of her heart [that would go down soon, since obv she was not startled], the corners of her lips lifted to a smirk.

"Heeey, Matt," she returned, tipping an imaginary hat in his direction. If she had wanted anyone to find her [other than her assortment of much cooler friends, please], it would definitely have been Matt. He was like the newer, cooler, way less fail version of Christian, who she really only hung out with because Meredith seemed to have the hots for him [or something along those lines].

"..What are you doing in the sports building?" she asked, as though she, too, was not guilty of such a strange occurrence. Obviously, though, Carmen was allowed to be anywhere. She was just that cool.
