Thank you!
Sorry... But another question... >.>;;;
Does everyone else at the school know about the dreamworld? Like, what I mean to say is, do they all know that each other enter into it, or do the students believe that they are simply dreaming and doesn't know what other people are having the same dreams? Or is the whole thing out in the open, talked about by everyone. Also, do they know of the dreamworld before going to Somnium? And how is it that the dreamworld is so connect to the students of the school? Also, is it a boarding school?
Sorry for so many questions and if they're difficult. I've very, very, intrigued by this concept. I haven't seen these answer specified anywhere, but I figured it was because your forum is so new. :] And please forgive me if they were specified somewhere.
Thank you so much for your time!

No don't worry, your questions are really good. So good in fact that I'm going to post them in the F.A.Q. But firstly, the answers.... Does everyone in the school know about the Dream World? Yes. All students are told about it on the first day of attendance. They know that other students also enter the Dream World as well. However they do not know the identity of a person they meet in the Dream World unless it is evident in the student's Dream Form or the person has told them. Hopefully it will lead to quite a few guessing games occurring and it could be entirely possible that two people can be enemies in the Real World and friends in the Dream World and not realise it.
Do people know about the Dream World before attending Somnium Academy? No. Somnium Academy is know by the general population as an elite school for gifted, if ever so slightly troubled, teenagers.
How is it that the Dream World is so connect to the students of the school? Ahh, this is a mystery in itself and has something to do with the elusive Headteacher, the founder of Somnium Academy. There is definitely a bit of magic in the air around the school building.
Is Somnium Academy a boarding school? Yes. Otherwise the students would have nowhere to sleep and enter the Dream World. Hopefully I got everything. I'm happy to answer your questions.

:] I'm sorry I'm being a pest, but one more question and then I'll try to be done for today. And I'll hopefully post my app soon. I'm almost done, after all.
So when the students go home, say for summer break, they won't be able to enter the Dream World? It's only at the school that they might be able to do so?

That's okay XD the more questions the better. It helps flesh out the RP.
No students can't enter the Dream World when not sleeping at Somnium Academy. However there's nothing stopping them dreaming about the Dream World when away from the Academy, although it won't be the real Dream World. Also, as a side note, entering the Dream World doesn't happen every night. Therefore the students and staff alike to get a chance to rest properly.

Can a dream form change? For example, if a character starts off with a dreary Dream Form that reflects their low self esteem or a trauma and later in the RP they overcome this internal issue (or the reverse) could their form change to reflect this?
Also, do things that happen in the Dream World affect the Waking World? For example, would drinking all night at the Demen's Inn mean a hang over when the character wakes up? And, what about injuries in the Dream World? Will someone have them when they wake up, or maybe have a scratch where a cut might have been? Or would it only be a phantom feeling, if there is anything, without any visible signs?

Can a dream form change? For example, if a character starts off with a dreary Dream Form that reflects their low self esteem or a trauma and later in the RP they overcome this internal issue (or the reverse) could their form change to reflect this?Yes it can. If it does change though please edit your profile saying so, and also write why it has changed. Also, do things that happen in the Dream World affect the Waking World? For example, would drinking all night at the Demen's Inn mean a hang over when the character wakes up?No. People can only stay in the Dream World for however long they can stay asleep. If they wake up in the Real World then that's it. That way it's possibly to accidentally leave the Dream World if you're woken up by something, or just fade from the Dream World if you've woken up naturally. What about injuries in the Dream World? Will someone have them when they wake up, or maybe have a scratch where a cut might have been? Or would it only be a phantom feeling, if there is anything, without any visible signs? There is a phantom feeling of the injury but no visible sign. No one can die per se in the Dream World, otherwise it wouldn't be safe to have it on the School Curriculum. People can, however, be injured emotionally.

What are the classes you can take in the Dream World? Perhaps we should list that with the curriculum. :]

The Dream World doesn't actually have any classes. It's just a place for students (and staff alike) to learn about more about themselves. Learn about themselves in ways they wouldn't be able to in real life. There is no timetable in the Dream World or set lessons or classes.

Can you dream in a Dream World? As in, do Dream Beings dream?

No one can dream in the Dream World. Dream Beings sleep but the concept of dreams is unknown to them apart from what people from the Real World tell them. Maybe some are even jealous of not being able to dream. Who knows...

I suggest prejudices. Even unintentional ones. When I asked that question about dreams, I hadn't realized (until Mutiny posted Elliot's response) that there might be an argument of what's real and what isn't.
To the students, the Dream World, isn't real. But to the Dream Beings, it's the only real thing they know. So, perhaps to them, the students aren't real?
How do you reconcile with yourself that these people come out of no where claiming you're not real?
Perhaps we can suggest that to people as a way to add to the psychology of both Dream Beings and Somnium staff/students.
And maybe... If a Dream Being has never dreamed then s/he wouldn't know about Dreams. In which case, would they call themselves Dream Beings or their world a Dream World? Or would they have another name for it?

Hi, I have a suggestion. How about putting characters' dream forms in the master List as well? It would be easier to choose a form.

that's quite a good idea. I was thinking about this myself but some Dream Forms are more complicated than others. I'll work something out though. Doubled Dream Forms would be quite a shame.

Oh Sen, didn't see your question there. Sorry.
The Dream Beings have been around for a long time. Longer than they even know as time works oddly in the Dream World.
Dream Beings know what the "real" people call them and their world because people from the Real World (outside of Somnium Academy) have entered every now and then, though very rarely. They gained knowledge of it all over time.
Some Dream Beings probably find it difficult to understand the concept. Mutiny made a really good Innkeeper as Eliott, being one of the only really sane creatures in the Dream World. The Guides I imagine may not entirely get it (but that's up to you Sen). The King definitely is confused about it all.
Did that answer make sense? I'm not sure whether I even answered your question xD

Question 1: Yes, it's possible for them to be transported to the Dream World as long as they are on the School Grounds. Question 2: No, not at the same time. You can have two separate threads in two separate places but they would have to be chronologically distinct.

What's beyond Demens? Is there a forest there, a sea? Or nothing?
I'd like there to be more...

I might create a Sixth Square for the end of the Dream World: The Shore. Good idea Benji.

I suggest we post different mystical creatures that people can choose from to help with their Dream Beings and Forms.
Here's a list o typical things.
werewolves zombies ghosts centaurs witches dwarfs elves dragons sphinx harpies ipotane manticore fairies genies gargoyles gnomes nymphs sirens trolls
I'm trying to think of more bizarre creatures for more variation. I think it'll also help flesh out the world.
We could also list the type of Dream Beings and Forms we already have. If you're too busy, I could do it. :]

I was just wondering- how do students get places at Somnium? Are they scouted out like in the Spy High novels if you've ever read them (top secret academy to train spies, known to the general populace as the Devereux Academy, an elite school), or do they actively apply for a place, or is both or something else. I wrote Diana and Bridgets' apps as if it was the former, but I've seen apps that mention otherwise, so I just wanted to get it resolved, even if it is a bit insignificant thanks ^^

Suggestion; move the face claim to 'approved' so that when we see our characters are approved we can post there. Otherwise that line that says 'wait until characters are accepted before posting here' is missed. . .entirely.

Suggestion: In regards to face claim, we can have it so that people can reserve a PB before their app gets accepted that way, in the event that two people are about to app with the same PB, it can be known that the person who reserved it first gets it. Or something like that. And then they can post their claim after their is accepted.

Hi. More questions to add to the pile Can non-humanoid dream forms/beings speak (either audibly or through some sort of telepathy)? Or is that up to us/the dream? I was trying to figure out how I wanted to play the gryphon. It boiled down to two options: 1. Always animalistic 2. Switching between the two depending on Kyle's state of mind at the time he enters the dream world and/or events that happen while he's dreaming. If he's angry, moody, etc or gets wounded while dreaming, the gryphon would be more animalistic. If he's in a good to neutral mood then the gryphon would be able to speak and understand when "people" talk to him. Does that make sense? I have a feeling I'm mangling my description...
